I absolutely love Japanese fashion. Big name department stores in the States can have all the designers they want. I’ll just go into Hot Topic, look around, sigh that everything’s only “okay” and go onto Tumblr and be in awe. Getting to attend Anime Expo shocked me when I saw four beautiful designers from Shibuya 109 right here in Exhibit Hall with me!!![[I’m in Artists’ Alley with Tinderbox Studios, helping spread indie creators to the world. So seeing other designers make their dreams come true is just so~ ahh!]]
Ghost of Harlem
Ghost of Harlem is straight from Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan with a flagship store in Shibuya 109. Her global store is on yesstyle.com and I couldn’t be happier! I wish I spoke more than broken Japanese. The designer stood in Exhibits wearing her own shirt and rockstar shorts that looked so meta-grunge and superreal. All I could say was “Konbonwa….eh~” Quickly going back to feeling all the clothes. She is so beautiful. She wanted to help everyone that she could. She doesn’t have to speak to English for me to know that she really enjoys seeing other people just walk around her booth.
This is the Chiffon Panel Print Bear Shirt I’ve been looking at ever since I saw it on the counter. The pieces are priced in $ at a slightly lower rate than their ¥ counterpart price, or so I’ve been told. They’ve been handing out Yesstyle coupons all day– $5 off coupon for all purchases over $69 USD. Super cool!! & on Yesstyle.com I get a 3% discount ! I will be getting these. My biggest question is how many?!
I felt through all the clothing racks at her booth. Every piece is soft to the touch. Made of thick, but breathable cloth, and the skirts look a little too short, but probably perfect for my height! (I am 5′ 1″.) They are very delicate pieces, but they could stand the delicate cycle of the washing machine. Just make sure to hang them on a clothesline!
When I get them in the mail over the summer, be sure to check out my fashion blog on Tumblr, fashioningmyself. That’s like such a long username. I might just change it. You should follow it! I’ll be posting pictures in all my Japanese fashions and where/how to get them later on.
Until then, another day of AnimeExpo2014 awaits!
